Bax is a retired construction worker from Cape Town. One fine Sunday, he read an article in the Sunday Times<\/a> about Vhutshilo Mountain School and was so touched by the story, he decided he would like to help with the rebuilding of the Skills Training Centre.<\/p>\n

On the January 13, 2016, he packed his suitcase and started the drive of 2223 km, all the way from Cape Town to the Far North. When he arrived he was under the impression that\u00a0he could immediately start re-building, but unfortunately, there was no money and materials to start the job. Unfazed, Bax found other things to do: \u00a0fixing tables, chairs, cupboards and working on the maintenance of the school buildings.<\/p>\n

Being a friendly and open minded person, Bax he made contacts easily in the community and started asking people and businesses for assistance\u00a0and donations of tools and materials for the construction project. \u00a0A wooden building had been promised but the school had to supply the foundation. Some of the cement was donated by PPC in Polokwane \u00a0and the school managed to get donations from friends for the balance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese people are amazingly honest; kind-hearted and down to earth.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bax had a huge impact on the school here and continues to stay in contact with us. His time here in the community left a positive impression on him\u00a0and he is happy he was able to use his skills to make such a lasting impact.<\/p>\n

Baxon is a retired Cape Town construction worker who drove 2223 from the Cape to the Far North to support Vhutshilo Mountain School.
