A Big “Thanks” to Our Sponsors + Supporters (January-April 2017)
Individual Sponsors
We at VMS would like to recognize our individual sponsors for sponsoring vulnerable children. With no funding from the government over the past years, Vhutshilo Mountain School has still managed to give best education and best care to orphans and vulnerable kids through these sponsors’ generous donations. Thank you!
Skills Development Classroom Sponsors
The construction of the skills development classroom is in progress. We were able to get the foundation and the frame installed, but the rain put the construction on hold over the last couple months and we are now we are waiting for the contractor. However, we want to thank everyone who has made donations towards the building—we hope to have construction completed very soon.
Ongoing Sponsors and Volunteers
2017 marks our 12th year in action. This year is special for our school because our first class (from 2005) is in their final year of school. These kids came to us as youngsters and have grown into inspiring young adults. Most of them are writing their matric ( grade 12) this year. 88% of the original class of 2005 has not had to repeat a grade, thanks in part to the work ethic and solid educational base, as well as emotional support that VMS gave them in their early years.
We could not have done any of this without the support of all you amazing people. In particular, we’d like to thank Mrs. Monica McNeil, the Church of Scotland, and the other Scottish people and churches who continue to support us. In addition, we would like to thank our dear friends in the USA, Hope for Limpopo (Nancy & Jo Anne), as well as our local Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge, The Aum group in Makhado, and all our visitors from the Netherlands. Further, we want to extend our thanks to the SKR foundation in Germany, the Thohoyandou Victim Empowerment Program here in Sibasa, Mr. Craig Carty and The Relevance Network, Marktek Roofing, Johnson & Johnson, Bas Rennings (our amazing web designer) from Red Earth Web Design, Gina Yusypchuk (our part-time volunteer from the U.S. Peace Corps), the Wolpret family, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, and Emmanuel Christian School. To all who have contributed to our school in any form, be it donation, advice, and/or spending time with us, we thank you—please know that we are very grateful. To the community of Tshikombani, all paying parents, and VMS staff God bless you all.
A Special Thank You to Sue-Anne
From the staff, parents, support group members and children, we would also like to thank our tireless director, Ms. SA Cook, for keeping us together and showing us the way. We love you and we wish you a speedy recovery.
